I need some advice....
There is a kid in the class who's been coming to school since the start of term in a shirt which it transpires hasn't been washed since the end of last school year. It's almost black it's that dirty, it has the name of one of the other kids written on the back of it (apparently he did it on the last day of term) and various ink spills on it. Now the kid in question is refusing to take off his jumper (which isn't much cleaner, but it's red so it's less obvious than his supposed white shirt) as he knows that his shirt is a mess and the other kids will tease him, one of them called him a scrubber today and that really upset him. I had a word with Gerry about it and she managed to get him a clean white T-shirt to wear so he could take his jumper off.
Anyway there are various other issues surrounding this kid and we're keeping an eye on things incase it gets worse so something can be done about it but to be totally honest with you I'm really upset about this little boy having to come to school in dirty clothes. I'm 99% sure that his shirt will never come clean even if it was washed (which I don't think it ever will be) I really want to buy him a new school shirt but I expect that would be crossing the line.
I know it's a job and that you shouldn't get involved as they're not your kids blah blah blah, but it's so hard not to and they're just kids who really don't deserve to have to wear dirty clothes every day and get picked on as we know that kids can be really cruel.
Please please please give me advice on what you'd do in this situation, its really got to me today.

I don't know about advice, but I know how you feel about this. It's differant because you obviously work with him, but when I was up the school waiting for them to come out I see kids that look dirty and there clothes look dirty and stuff and not just from the days rough and tumble of playing etc... But like the parent s can't be bothered to wash them and that, and it makes me real sad to see them like that and I just want to go up and grab the parents or give them a new uniform or something... I don't understand why people let there kids go throught this.... Hope this makes sense and sorry for the rambling.. XX
